located within the dublin docklands development authority planning scheme, the courtyard accommodates office and residential users at different times of the day and week.

difficult technical constraints were overcome to produce an abstract work which facilitates all practical requirements and resolves interface issues between building and landscape such as privacy for ground floor residents, drainage at building entrances and external lighting. all detailing and site supervision was carried out by dermot foley landscape architects.

the project won its category at the 2007 irish landscape institute awards. ‘….when viewed from above it looks like an abstract painting but as a space offers a multiplicity of uses and atmospheres. What appears to be a simple design creates, in fact, a surprisingly complex space. It is a….sharp and funky parterre that visually delights during daylight and at night.‘   jury comment
