dermot foley landscape architects

project: monaghan civic offices

client: monaghan county council

team: d.foley with boyd cody

location: monaghan

site: 4 hectares

design: 2002
status: open international competition entry - winner
dermot foley landscape architects were invited by boyd cody architects to design the new landscape for the proposed monaghan civic offices during the second stage of the competition.

the scheme includes a planting typology based on recognised habitat and plant associations. the species mix was applied in a pragmatic fashion throughout the site, to take advantage of incidental spaces at ground floor and roof level. the site constraints and the building programme were such that only fragments of the planting mix could be used. this gave rise to a ‘camouflage’ composition in plan at both levels.
